Self Portrait
Husband got me a Nikon D3000 for Christmas. I've spent all day with it doing self portraits...taking pictures then changing them completely in Photoshop.

Dexter
"I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands.
When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands;
Then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught threat,
For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that."

Camoufrog
This is my Camoufrog. He is the protector of my Orchids. It is actually probably several different frogs that live amongst my Orchids, but I like to think of it as just one, the one frog prince who watches over the safety of my backyard from the beauty of the Orchid leaves.
One night, I had a dream that he hopped from one of the plants to the table on the deck, just as night was falling and the sun had set, sprouted wings, and flew away, over the house and into the night sky. The next morning, when I woke up, I ran outside to see if he was gone, but I found that he had returned from his night flying and was tucked back into his Orchid, ready to sleep away the days heat and restore his energy for another night of soaring on the thermals.

Vanda Blooms
Around the pillars of the palm-tree bower
The orchids cling, in rose and purple spheres;
Shield-broad the lily floats; the aloe flower
Foredates its hundred years...Bayard Taylor

Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrows rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetimes argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are"

"I have studied many philosophers and many cats; the wisdom of cats is infinately superior."
Hippolyte Taine
(This is a portrait of LilyBeth, a stray that adopted us after my beloved Pippen-cat died and just before our Dalmatian, Jimmy, passed. She is white, with black spots. I think she was sent by God to comfort us.)
