Love

This one reminds me of myself back in the 1980's. I kind of have that Courtney Love look!

Hot Lips

I like this one the best, for some reason. I think it has the most of my personality in it.

Self Portrait

Husband got me a Nikon D3000 for Christmas. I've spent all day with it doing self portraits...taking pictures then changing them completely in Photoshop.

Dexter

"I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands.
When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands;
Then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught threat,
For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that."

Camoufrog

This is my Camoufrog. He is the protector of my Orchids. It is actually probably several different frogs that live amongst my Orchids, but I like to think of it as just one, the one frog prince who watches over the safety of my backyard from the beauty of the Orchid leaves.

One night, I had a dream that he hopped from one of the plants to the table on the deck, just as night was falling and the sun had set, sprouted wings, and flew away, over the house and into the night sky. The next morning, when I woke up, I ran outside to see if he was gone, but I found that he had returned from his night flying and was tucked back into his Orchid, ready to sleep away the days heat and restore his energy for another night of soaring on the thermals.

Vanda Blooms

Around the pillars of the palm-tree bower
The orchids cling, in rose and purple spheres;
Shield-broad the lily floats; the aloe flower
Foredates its hundred years...Bayard Taylor

Southern moss in the September breeze. Crickets chirping and shadows fall. I am home.

Haven't you noticed the days somehow keep getting longer? And the spirit voices whisper in us all. Haven't you noticed the rays? The spirit sun in stronger. And a new day is dawning for us all.

Hummingbird don't fly away, fly away. Hummingbird don't fly away, fly away."

"Animals are such agreeable friends -- they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms."

George Eliot

(Photo Taken by me of Dexter today at naptime)

"If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrows rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetimes argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are"

"Where did you come from baby, dear? / Out of everywhere into here."
George MacDonald

(Photo taken by my dad of me, Year One, 1967; reinterrpreted by me, 2009)

This is a really creepy doll photograph. Dad took it around 1972, I would have to guess. This was my sister Tracy's doll (she still has it). Don't know what the whole Yenta outfit is about or what the story is behind this creepy picture. I took the liberty of cleaning it up a bit in Photoshop.

"If cats could talk, they wouldn't."

Nan Porter

This is a Photoshop portrait of our lady, Weasel (or Daisy Mae, depending on how she is behaving). This looks nothing like her.

"I have studied many philosophers and many cats; the wisdom of cats is infinately superior."

Hippolyte Taine

(This is a portrait of LilyBeth, a stray that adopted us after my beloved Pippen-cat died and just before our Dalmatian, Jimmy, passed. She is white, with black spots. I think she was sent by God to comfort us.)

"No, we have been, as usual, asking the wrong question. It does not matter a hoot what the mockingbird on the chimney is singing. The real and proper question is: Why is it beautiful?"

Bertrand Russell

The lemon cupcakes I made today. Yum. Amazing.
